Thematic list: BDSM Universes

There are quite a few BDSM-themed AUs cropping up nowadays in a variety of fandoms, so I thought I'd put a list together of all the ones I've found.

Specifically, this is a list of fics set in an AU in which everybody is acknowledged to be a dominant, submissive or switch (and usually bisexual), and/or BDSM activities are normal. Please bear in mind that these stories are not all set in the same alternate universe. Different authors have used the idea in different ways.

If you know of any suitable fics which are not listed here, please let me know and I'll add them. Even ficlets are welcome. I'll try to keep the list up to date.

Please note that I have not read every fic listed here, and make no guarantee of quality.

The Daily Show / The Colbert Report

The Way Things Need To Be by Sara
In a universe where people are primarily defined by position — whether they are dominant, a switch, or submissive — Jon and others struggle to deal with dating, prejudice, and the drama that comes from not fitting neatly inside society’s narrowly-defined idea of how things should be. Brian/Jon, and others. Spanking, gagging, explicit sex, bondage, marking.
Sequel: Five Problems Faced in the D/s-verse Plus One Solution by Kristina Johansson
Over in the D/s-verse, our friends have their problems, both internal and external. Kristen/Demetri, Sam/Jason, Jon/Brian, Keith/Rachel.

Companion: The Sword In His Mouth by Erin Ptah
Social relationships are arranged in terms of Doms and subs rather than men and women; BriWi/Jon just became canon; and Stephen plays a character who is a straight closeted sub, about whom people write fic. Brian/Jon/'Stephen'.

Sherlock

The Great Amendment of 1998 by ihuntyoudown
In a world where everybody is a dom or a sub, John pretends to be a dom, but he isn't. Sherlock/John, Mycroft/Lestrade.

I Could Make Your Whole World Sweet by wallhaditcoming
Sherlock Holmes has never wanted anyone as much as he has wanted John Watson. The problem? Sherlock is a Dom... and so is John. Or at least, that's what the doctor wants everyone to think. Can they develop a relationship despite the dynamic mismatch? And can they handle the consequences in their everyday lives? Sherlock/John. Explicit sex, corporal punishment.

Please God, Let Me Live by Flitter
When John Watson found himself facing an AK-47, on his knees and hopeless, he said the only thing he could say. But, while God did let him survive, living was a completely different matter. And for a Sub without a Guardian in London, well that was a harsh matter indeed. Sherlock/John. Violence, torture, punishment, graphic sex and explicit language.

The Pleasure-Dome Hotel by Raiining and Velvet Mace
Sex had little interest to Sherlock until a case of murder and espionage leads Sherlock to find a very interesting sub. Sherlock/John. Graphic sex, violence.

Responsibility by ihuntyoudown

Unnamed Kink Meme Fic by Anonymous
Sherlock is, nominally, a sub. Moriarty/Sherlock. Dub-con or possibly rape I think (I haven't read it so I'd appreciate someone who has clarifying the warnings for me).

Unnamed Kink Meme Fic by Anonymous
John Watson is a Dom who makes his business by 'taming' or 'educating' overly willful subs that families don't really want to have to deal with anymore. Sherlock Holmes is a willful sub who his older brother Mycroft, having just collared a lovely sub of his own, doesn't really want to have to babysit anymore. Sherlock/John. Corporal punishment.

You Need Someone to Take Care of You (But I Know it Won't be Me) by etothepii
The first time he sees Sherlock's driving license, Lestrade is sure it's a skilled forgery, though why Sherlock would want the little black S as his role instead of a D, he has no idea. Sherlock/Lestrade. Explicit sex.
Sequel: It's Easy to Trust Someone Who Can't Break You by etothepii
It's different with Lestrade, because Lestrade puts the cases first too, and he doesn't -- he doesn't want Sherlock, not the way Sherlock knows John wants him. Lestrade wants to fuck him, and hurt him, and use him. He wants Sherlock to kneel and plead and whimper. But he doesn't want to keep him, and Sherlock doesn't want to be kept, and that's what makes it easy. Sherlock/Lestrade, Sherlock/John.
Sequel: Everything You Won't Tell Me by etothepii
It's never felt like this before, like wanting to say, “I'd rather not, but if you wanted, I'd get on my knees for you.” Because John is a dom, and Sherlock is a dom, and John wants him anyways. Except, one of these things is not quite true. Sherlock/John. Explicit sex.

Sherlock Holmes

Open Secrets by Nonesane
Watson has never commented on Holmes' uncanny ability to switch the guise of follower for leader in the wink of an eye, just as Holmes never has asked for details concerning Watson's meetings with 'old friends' and this has worked fine for several years. But thanks to a gang of surprisingly resourceful jewellery thieves and a sudden engagement this might all be about to change. Sherlock/John, John/Mary, other secondary pairings.

But they still insist that they must see him submit to one who has authority over him before they will hand him back over to us." John/Evan, Ronon/Amelia, Rodney/Jennifer, flashbacks of John/Nancy. Explicit sex, abuse, dubious consent.

To Find the Place Where I Am by seekergeek
John slanted a look at him but held his peace. The fact that he actually did love Rodney had no bearing on their relationship, really, despite what Ronon thought. John couldn't give Rodney what he needed. John/Rodney, John/others. Graphic sex, caning.

X-Men: First Class

Let Them Talk by manic_intent
Sub/Dom pairs are created by imprinting. Mutants generally imprint on mutants and Erik who is the most powerful among them thinks that he will have equally powerful sub. Turns out that he imprints on Charles – a brilliant yet entirely human Professor. Cue Erik being disgusted and angry with his Sub, which Charles takes really hard. Erik is ashamed of him, and doesn’t want him to associate with other mutants, but slowly Charles charms his way to the hearts of everyone and one day another Logan challenges Erik’s claim over Xavier. Logan/Charles, Erik/Charles. Explicit sex, mental abuse.

Never in Anger by katydidmischief
It was almost as if he were being courted. Erik/Charles. Explicit sex.

Of Needles by Skull_Bearer
Once a Dominant and Submissive pair is born, they are linked to each other, no matter how far apart they are. This link doesn’t actually tell the Dom or the Sub each other’s thoughts, but it does allow them to know how the other’s doing and serves as a reassurance that there’s someone meant for them out there. Another one of the reasons that Erik hates Shaw so badly is because Shaw managed to break Erik’s link to his Sub. Now Erik doesn’t even know if his Sub’s alive because breaking a link like that can kill a Submissive. Erik/Charles.

Try a Little Tenderness by Anonymous
